Berriedale Farms is located in the Cowpasture River Valley of Virginia.

Nelson Hoy and Lizzie Biggs are conservationists and how we manage the farm's forests and grasslands, river and drafts are governed by a progressive conservation easement held by The Nature Conservancy. Nelson and Lizzie have made life-long commitments to preserve the unique grass fed genetics of heritage Red Poll cattle and to breed critically rare Suffolk draft horses. We endeavor to raise the healthiest and the most flavorful, tender and juicy grass-fed and -finished beef anywhere east of the Mississippi River.

  • Red Poll cattle at Berriedale Farms are raised on native grasses, legumes and forbs.
  • Berriedale allows its cattle the time, space and peacefulness necessary to live into full maturity.
  • We do not rush our cattle to market and sacrifice beef quality for the economy of throughput.
  • Berriedale does not use growth hormones, prophylactic antibiotics or insecticide implants.
  • Nelson and Lizzie ensure that our Red Poll cattle have free access to cool, clear and water.
  • Red Poll cattle at Berriedale Farms have free-choice access to essential minerals and salt.
  • We do not use herd dogs, electric cattle prods or separate individuals from their herd mates.
  • Berriedale Farms patronizes a certified humane meat processing plant.
  • Veterinary care includes vaccinations, antibiotics, surgeries and fly control measures.

Berriedale Farms, Nelson and Lizzie serve health-conscious families that value environmentally-sound farm practices and who choose to patronize a small family farm in rural Appalachia. We harvest ten (10) beeves each year and that's it. Nelson and Lizzie enjoy an extended "family" relationship with about 200 households, most located within 200-odd miles. Many families with children visit Berriedale Farms and stay in our Cabin on the Cowpasture.

Earth's Echo Farm is a family-owned, pasture-based operation established in 2014. We use the natural world as our model to build a healthy landscape while producing sustainable, ecologically responsible, and nutrient dense food. We are on Route 3, four miles east of downtown Fredericksburg, along the shores of the Rappahannock River.

Pastured Poultry: We move our mobile range coops daily to ensure our birds are happy and getting the omnivorous diet they naturally seek. In addition, they are fed Non-GMO Project Verified feed grown in the USA that is laboratory-tested to be free of pesticides and herbicides. We process on-farm and do everything possible to ensure our birds have a stress-free life and a compassionate, respectful end. We offer whole chickens and a variety of packaged parts (frozen and vacuum sealed) as well as whole turkeys just before the holidays.

Eggs: We go the extra mile to give our layers a happy pastured lifestyle, supplemented with certified non-GMO, lab-verified pesticide- and herbicide-free feed. They are housed in a luxury mobile coop and moved regularly onto fresh pasture.

Grass-fed/Grass-finished Beef: Our cattle are moved daily onto fresh pasture, mimicking the natural migration patterns of wild grazing animals. We do not use any growth hormones, supplemental antibiotics, or any grain whatsoever. This is 100% grass-fed and grass-finished! We offer retail cuts in addition to bulk orders for whole, half, or quarter beef.

Forest-raised Pork: We rotate our pigs through the farm's wooded areas, helping to transform scrub brush and thickets into healthy silvopasture. Pigs love to forage and do a tremendous job of cleaning up weeds and invasive species. They also receive a ration of Non-GMO Project Certified, lab-verified herbicide and pesticide-free feed. Our pigs are hormone and antibiotic free. We believe in stress-free handling and do all we can to give our pigs a happy existence on our farm. When the time is right, they are processed locally under USDA inspection.

Farmers Markets: RVA Big Market in Richmond year-round in Bryan Park on Saturdays. Long Sunday Market in Stafford March-November.

Where else to find our products: Fredericksburg Food Co-op

Online ordering: We post an order form weekly for you to preorder for markets or pick up directly from the farm. Order by Thursday for weekend pick-ups.

Evermore Farm is a small, family-owned and operated livestock and produce farm. We are located in Westminster, MD with easy access from Baltimore, MD; Washington, DC; Frederick, MD; and south-central Pennsylvania. Although we are not certified organic, we run our farm in a sustainable manner. We support local food systems, better stewardship of our land, and raising animals with respect. We offer seasonal shares of our produce, meats (beef, pork, lamb), poultry (chickens) and eggs.

We raise fork-tender Dexter/Belted Galloway beef cattle, wonderfully mild tasting Katahdin lambs, and flavorful heritage Berkshire hogs. We have fresh eggs from Rhode Island Reds and produce free-range broilers (chickens) March-November. We promote an intelligent husbandry that supports a more sustainable farming and food system. Our lambs and beef are grass-fed and all our animals are raised without added hormones or antibiotics.

We follow natural sustainable farming practices, including rotational grazing. Grazing on open pasture helps with the general health of the animals: they get exercise, absorb sunshine, and breathe fresh air. They seem happier that way, and we are, too.

All of our meat is USDA inspected for quality. You have several options when purchasing our meats and poultry for your freezer—at our farm store, on-line ordering, delivery available. We offer whole, half and quarter steers, whole and half hogs, and whole lambs. Multi-Season CSA meat, poultry and egg shares available. Check our website for price and availability.

John and Ginger have made lots of great friends working in agriculture and as producers. Evermore Farm is their ardent effort to "walk the talk" about the viability of diversified, sustainable small farms. However, both agree that their best "crop" is their children, Susan and Andrew. Both are now married with wonderful partners and have children of their own. Family is our greatest joy and serves as "True North" on the farmer's compass.

Please call or email with any questions.

Frog Eye Vineyard is small family farm and winery in the Pleasant Valley of Washington County, Maryland. We sell pork, honey, and wine. We create products that promote the health and wellbeing of our animals, land, and customers.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality meat raised in the most natural, humane, and healthy environment possible, while connecting the consumer to the farmer, so that they know and trust the story behind their food.

Our pasture-raised pigs live in groups of five with more than two acres per group to graze, sunbathe, root through the dirt, and wallow in their self-made mud holes. They eat milk, fruit, and what they find on pasture. We use no corn, soy, antibiotics, pesticides, herbicides, or hormones. The result is happy pigs and healthier, flavorful meat.

We feed our pigs in a way that reduces the amount of polyunsaturated fats (PUFA) in the meat. Unlike cows and other ruminant animals, pigs are what they eat. The fat composition of pork is completely in our control. Modern feedlots, and even many small farms, feed pigs corn and soy, which are high in PUFA.

The amount of PUFA in the American diet has skyrocketed in recent decades. The evidence that excess PUFA is a major contributor to modern diseases continues to accumulate. These oils accumulate in pork if you feed it to the animals, and they also accumulate in humans.

Grand View Farm is a pasture-based farm focused on organically grown, local food produced in a way that simultaneously heals the land. Our customers come out to enjoy the farm and purchase their beef, pork, poultry and eggs from our on farm store. We also offer online ordering and home delivery to the surrounding counties and Baltimore City.

Our 100% grass fed cattle are rotated around the pastures followed by our egg layer chickens in a symbiotic, soil-building relationship that mimics nature. The pigs inhabit the wooded areas and pastures of the farm. Rotated like the cattle and chickens, these pigs lightly disturb the woodland floor, trim the brush and fertilize the ground. The broiler chickens are on pasture and moved daily to a fresh patch of grass. The broilers arrive on the farm as day-old peeps, live their lives outdoors in clean, healthy environments until they are harvested here on the farm.

Mary's Land Farm is located in Ellicott City, MD. We sell beef, lamb, pork, chicken, duck eggs and chicken eggs and offer farm tours.

After meetings with Joel Salatin and listening to lectures at PASA and the Weston A Price foundation, we realized that the right use of our land was raising superior breeds of livestock on pasture built on high-quality soils. We used the expertise of the Savory Institute and the Permaculture Research Institute to improve our forages and soils.

Beef: We raise Devon cattle on grass only. Devon cattle were left out of the feedlot fad that has had a strangle hold on the beef industry since World War II. Devons have long been bred to produce succulent flavorful beef from a grass diet.

Pork: Our heritage pigs are raised in the 40 acres of woods around the property. This healthy environment provides better forage for healthier meat with better flavor.

Lamb: Our Katahdin sheep are naturally resistant to common maladies and their meat has a great reputation. The sheep consume the highest quality grass and hay and produce the highest quality meat.

Duck Eggs: Our Sweet Emily ducks are natural high-production layers. They have a gated pasture and they come into the laying house to lay eggs in nesting boxes. We do not clean the eggs to avoid wiping off the natural protection the ducks leave on the egg when they lay.

Chicken Eggs: Our chickens are always out in the pasture and they lay in special nesting boxes. They roost in chicken tractors we provide for them which we move around the pasture.

Pure Indian Foods is a small family-owned business that takes pride in making an exceptional quality Ghee from Grass-Fed cows. Ghee is butter with the milk solids removed. Our family has been in this business in Northern India for 5 generations, since 1889. We make our ghee fresh, with care, in small batches, right here in the USA. We use Grass-Fed, USDA-certified Organic butter for making our ghee, and we are in the process of applying for Organic certification.

Ghee has been used for its health-giving and healing properties for thousands of years. In Ayurveda (the "science of life"), cow ghee is considered one of the most sacred foods.

Ghee is the best cooking oil as it is stable at higher temperatures, and it enhances the flavor of spices and herbs. Ghee is free of casein and lactose and is suitable for people who are allergic to dairy products. It keeps skin soft, and has anti-aging properties. Ghee contains naturally occurring CLA, Omega-3, Vitamins A, D, E & K2. It is free of harmful trans-fats.

Ghee is shelf-stable and we ship worldwide by USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL. We offer special discounts to co-ops and buying clubs.
